Default shipping frustration

It seems that EPAY is calling things shipped when only a label is created and often 5 or 6 days until the item is accepted by USPS, UPS or FEDEX. Items which are supposed to be priority expedited mail are taking days and days over normal shipping time and USPS is not providing up to date tracking. This may not be universal because last night a Postman delivered a pkg from NY at 9 to me and believe me I am out in the country. I know this is a rant but it seems like everything something is valuable, fragile and time sensitive, it sort of disappears in the system.

If the time is lost in printing the shipping label to acceptance by the shipper, it isn't the shipping agency that is at fault.

It is going to depend on the seller. When I print a shipping label I deliver it to the shipper the same day. But, there is nothing to force the seller to do this, about all you can do is read their reviews and see if they have a pattern of this.

^^What JSeery said, it's just a crapshoot right now. I've done a LOT of waiting lately, but I don't hold it against anyone. A lot going on these days and it affects everything.

Things that always worked aren't working now. I cannot know exactly what is causing the problems but any package handled by the USPS can easily see unexplained delays at most every stage. Don't see this changing anytime soon.

Post office is a mess. Mailed a Priority package from Delaware to Porto Rico. Sat for 4 days in Philadelphia and now showed up in Chicago. 2 and 3 day flat rate Priority is now taking 9 to 14 days.

Open up the USPS web site and read the red line near the top of the page.

https://www.usps.com/

I have been waiting for something from CA since 12/8 and it's still in the pipeline, somewhere
Ranting about it ain't going to get it to me or anyone else any sooner.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just had the opposite happen. I purchased a rivet gun from TX. Seller printed label and it said expected delivery on 1/23/21. Two days after getting the notice a label was printed, it arrived. Two weeks earlier. Not complaining, but it just goes to show things are a bit wacky right now.

I have heard that "Priority Mail" packages are moving quite well, but regular "First Class" stuff suffers from the overload problem.

My experience has been exactly the opposite. Everything is luck of the draw to results: distance, shipping point, and status type.

Lots of shippers are suffering from the reduced amount of domestic and international air travel.

Items that were once subject to air uplift are now being handled by road or rail. This is creating significant flow problems all along the logistics chain.

For this reason, shippers that utilise dedicated freight aircraft will have a better chance of meeting their service standard.

Having said that, nothing is guaranteed these days

Third Gen shipped my steering parts on the 8th to Germany, I received them today, the 11th. UPS is fast - at least this time! It doesn´t get better than that.

This (regular packages doing better than "Priority Mail") seems counter-intuitive to me. I can tell you that over that last 6 months, none of the "Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Boxes" I have sent (8 or 10 a month for my condenser sales) have taken more that a week to complete their journey.

UPS rules the roost at the current moment. I’ve lost most all faith in USPS. We have been relying on UPS and FedEx 2-day as much as possible. International buyers should consider using UPS when possible even though it cost more.

That has been my experience sending 2-day priority mail flat rate boxes as close as a state away lately too

I must be lucky, the last 3 packages from USPS arrived within 2/3 days of being shipped(out of IA, MI, and NV).

There is a little old lady in my town that had a internet book sales business. These recent USPS issues literally put her out of business.

Should the USPS stay an arm of the government?? The top officer is an appointment and the government supplies the $$$. Raises to the postal rates are approved by the Gov. Contract your Congress person & person elect. and let them know your feelings.

I think the problem falls into 2 categories. 1) how fast does the seller get it to the shipper. I bought an item on Ebay. The seller stated 14 days shipping time. The shipped status showed up almost immediately but the seller didn't get it to the shipper for 7 days. They shipped Fed Ex. Fed Ex showed the unit picked up and left the closest hub, then the status stayed the same for another 5-6 days. Finally arrived in the hub for my city and out for delivery the next day (which is today). Half the shipping time was sitting with the seller. The other problem is whether the shipper has tracking. Some USPS doesn't. Cheaper but the purchaser sits there hoping it will arrive. UPS and Fed Ex seems to have fewer update points so most of the time the item is in moving to destination mode. I have had some items lost in shipping over the years but a very high success rate.

I only ship via UPS now. Sad. If I am buying and the seller requires payment up front, I insist on paying via a means that I can dispute later should an issue arise. I've not had any major issues with packages shipped UPS. But, I have had things mailed via USPS to domestic addresses take about 2 weeks.

Thought I would drop a note, my bellhousing adaptor that got shipped on Dec 4 going 244 miles finally made it today. It was getting close to where I was going to have the shipper file a insurance claim (60 days limit) but it arrived. Hopefully everyone else will too. What a mess.
Stay Safe,
Steve

Try shipping to New Zealand! My frustration is that ebay seems to be pushing a shipping service through Erlanger in Kentucky. They can take 2 weeks to process the parcel before it starts on its (in the current times) prolonged international journey

I have a Priority pkg that left DC on 6Jan for Knoxville, TN, has not been heard from since and the postmaster tells me its a non stop route from DC. Have another hung in Cincinnati for the last 6 days. I am beginning to believe the USPS is shut down till after the inauguration.

well; UPS just nailed me on cost. Internet UPS estimate was $34 and the "Independent UPS Store" charged $62 for the same spec'd box. Their answer,' We're independent of UPS" . It's 30 miles to a corporate site. Newc

Overall UPS is still the best, BY FAR. Like most things in life it costs a little bit more, but it's worth it.

I've just had a negative experience with UPS. I ordered some part for my friend's Chrysler. The seller is in Canada. The package went to the UPS hub in the USA, two weeks later I got a notification that the package was being returned to the sender. Go figure....
