I used the cheap tri leg harbor freight stand and 2 pieces of scrap angle iron. Used 2 of the factory arms bolted to the 2 side water outlet bolts and 2 pieces of scrap angle iron to two of the oil pan bolt holes.

i did make a homemade wood stand to set the engine on its mounting ears to mount the oil pan tho. And ran it on that stand. Now its currently being repurposed as a door caddy haha.

I had one of those "tri-leg" stands and found it very unstable w/an engine on it. I replaced the single caster w/a piece of channel iron w/a caster on each end. Made it very stable.

Snyder’s quality of service has certainly deteriorated, no longer first choice for me and two close friends.

SeaSlugs,

I bought the HF 2000 lb. Engine Hoist because it looked a lot sturdier than the 1000 lb. Hoist. I am thinking of buying the 1000 lb. engine stand but I notice the tiny wheels in the back. Have they been any problem for you or anyone else that has one? I’ve been thinking of going with the 2000 lb. Stand just to be on the safe side.

By the way, are SeaSlugs closely related to Banana Slugs found in the Redwood Forests?

Being in Canada mine didn't come from HF, Being that I bought it over 20 years ago I don't even remember where I bought it, possibly from KMS tools. Last modification to it, about 5-8 years ago was a 60-1 worm drive reduction gear.

yes flipping and engine over on these stands is always a bit of a scare. Best to have someone help you. The gearbox would of been very nice to just slowly roll over and it catch itself.
