Post Mirrors for '28 A Roadster

Auto:1928 Model A Roadster
Engine No. A441356
Body: 40-A

Having looked through all parts/suppliers offerings of peep/clamp-on/hinge/post mirrors, it is difficult to know the best mirrors (and best mounting fit) to purchase. Online/catalog images are difficult to see how mirrors would fit on my '28 Model A. I have looked through FoodBarn archives but can't find past recommendations. Hopefully, somebody can help. The photos below show the front and back views of the support post on the driver side. I would like to have a mirror mounted on this post and similarly on the passenger side. Thanks in advance to any/all who have had good (and maybe not-so-good) experiences with mirrors!

I bought a Model A Mirror from one of the parts houses (can't remember which) for my 1929 RPU. The stalk was far too short, so I made a new longer one, which now gives good rear vision. One end of the stalk is threaded to fit the countersunk screw hole in the stanchion.

Thanks Mad Mac. Any chance you could post a photo of your mirror set-up? Much appreciated.

Most of the roadsters and phaetons that I have seen have mirrors attached (clamped to the wind wings). They look and work well. They are also available from most dealers.

Thanks frank55a for the photos and explanation. I do not have wind wings on my 28 Roadster as I have had it for three weeks and getting used to it! Your photos really help and I'll research this terrific solution.

My Roadster also had mirrors belted onto both front wheel well spares.
These are useless. I have left them on because they had worn the paint off the spare wheel covers by vibrating in road dirt picked up by driving.
I have the stanchion mirrors and wind wings which work well together.

Pretty much any supplier will likely have the type of mirror that screws in where the stanchion retaining screws go (as in post #7) and there are several styles available. Check the thread that you have before ordering as there were two different ones possibly used for the original retaining screws.

I use mirrors and the mounting stalks from motor cycles. I make a flat over grown washer that mounts under the nut at the windscreen pivot and attach the mirror to that. There is no defacing of any part of the car.
