Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
Anyone out there know where I might find a copy of the operating instructions for a Ford Model 6999 Diagnostic Test machine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
You may have the serial number in stead of the Model number. How about a photo. The early test set is the H-1, but there are several early versions and post war.
The test instructions were found in several locations, Ford Service Bulletins, Service Letters and cards that came with the test set, there is also a book (Non-Ford). Some of the test sets have the distributor Stroboscope some do not. |

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
I have just fully rebuilt a 1949 Ford distributor stroboscope and I have, and can give information on this model, and I can also give you information on another person who has a lot of information on the 1938 Test sets.

Do you happen to have those in pdf format, or are they hard copies? Thanks, Bob |

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
I have 2 Diagnostic Test Sets and 2 Stroboscopes. like the ones you have pictured. They have been in my barn ?45 years waiting to get restored. I have given up on "full restoration" but hope to get them into operating condition. Any suggestions? One big question is the best way to thoroughly clean them, inside and out. My early tests on the Diagnostic set are positive, but I have not gotten into the "nitty-gritty" stuff yet. I hope to be able to get one complete, working set from the 2. I do have a lot of the original paperwork and manuals for both sets. Thank You, Don

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
After the war the test sets looked like the above units. Heyer made the machine into two different units. Prior to the war the one unit had the appearance below.

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
Thanks Terry, Mine is pre-war based on your pictures. That is more than I knew before but fits perfectly with the history I have on mine.

Re: Ford Diagnostic Test Equipment
V8Fordman If you have the prewar Heyer test set, there is a great instruction book published by Ford Dealer and Service Field magazine. The early version has an orange cover and the later version a blue cover. Let us know what you have so we can help you.
