Question Install seat in 53 Victoria

I am ready to install the front seat in my 53 Vic and see a wire from one side to the other for linkage I think. Is there supposed to be some kind of return spring attached? There is a peg sticking out in the center with what looks like it should have something attached like a spring or something.
Thanks in advance,

That wire going across releases the latch on the passenger side. Before I installed the seat, I would set in it and try the release lever and make sure everything is working properly, moving back and forth, etc. Charles

I agree, but my concern is there looks like there may be a spring attached to it in the center. There is a stud sticking out from the frame with an eyelet and the wire has a matching eyelet. The wire has a somewhat of a bow towards the stud eyelet. It just appears as I am missing a spring or something. This car was a basket case when I got it 3 years ago. I bought the books, but nothing on the seat construction so far.
Thanks

Actually it does help, I can see that the wire is hooked to the stationary eyelet. This is exactly what I needed,
Thank you
