Default Steering Sector grease or oil for 37 Ford??

What grease or oil do you use or recommend for the steering sector box on my 37 Ford?
Your help is appreciated.

Normally, they use SAE-90 gear oil but some folks use John Deere Corn Head thixotropic grease due to excessive seal leakage.

The top of the cap says EP (extreme pressure) which leaves the corn head grease out. I use the same lube as the transmission and rear differential SAE 140W

I've used John Deere Corn Head Grease since 2013 in my '35 fordor sedan. In early 2013 I was prepping my car for a cross-country trip and intending to completely redo my brakes, rebuild the rear while installing 3.54 gears, and rebuild the steering gear as necessary, and prevent the box from leaking gear oil. As our departure time, first week in June, got closer and closer, I decided not to tackle the steering and try the JDCH Grease to provide good lubrication and hopefully stop, or at least decrease the leakage problem as many people had recommended it would.....and they were correct. After traveling 7,200 miles on this trip, I only lost a slight amount of the JD grease and confirmed an improvement in ease of steering. Eight years later, I'm still using JD grease in the steering box, and only adding a slight amount every other oil change.

Now truth be told....if or when I rebuild that steering box, and confirm I've corrected the leaking problem, I would use the Penn Rite steering box oil, as others here have recommended.

John,
If you've had such good luck with the Corn Head grease, why change to the Penn Rite?

I haven't used it myself, but there have been some recommendations for Super S 00 grease from Tractor Supply

John, as I mentioned, "if" I ever do rebuild this steering box, my main goal would be eliminating the leaking issues. To determine that, I would start out by filling the box with oil. Based on what I've heard and read about the Penn Rite oil, it sounds to me like this would be an excellent choice to start with.

How many of you drive your car when it's under 40 degrees? And even if you do, it will only take a few minutes for the exhaust to warm up the steering box right next to it.

Corn head grease should be fine for everyone except that die-hard in Alaska.

I have it in the F-1 box in my 32 sedan and think it's great. The F-1 boxes have the same internals as 37 to 48 passenger cars, so it should work just fine in the OP's 37 too.

Richard, I'd agree with you on using a hi temp grease in the steering box, but JD Corn Head Grease is not hi temp and flows well for it's intended use. There is a video on JD's website that tells the story on how this works in their farm equipment, and it also works quite well in steering boxes, and the early Ford enclosed type universal joint.

Are instructions available regarding installation of an F-1 box?

My '36 p'up was close to impossible to parallel park. Two-arm pull per each 'turn' - the truck would rock with each pull. Absolutely unacceptable. Didn't the public object to FoMoCo?

(and I once read that Chev GM was worse)

Is there info regarding why the box was engineered in such a cheap 'Who Cares?' way?

Edsel & Gene Gregorie actually 'passed' this piece of 'scrap-iron'?

How would the fairer sex fare parking when shopping?

At least provide a FoMoCo logo crowbar w/each car . . . one end on passenger floor, the other through the steering wheel spokes - PULL! PULL! PULL!

Tyre's were narrow and roads were gravel , to set up a steering box can be a real challenge ,
