Wood.

Not all 30/31 Roadsters had the steel tack strip either.

I've heard that Station Wagons make SWEET MUSICAL CREEKING SOUNDS, when going out a driveway, on an angle. Is this a typical thing with most wagons?

As far as rigidity of the body goes, did someone install the correct one-piece wood tack strip on the body, ---or did they use one of the reproduction 3-piece wood strips the wood vendors sell? The 3-piece units offer no body rigidity. Ford did it right, ...they didn't!! ......................

Brent, or anyone else, is there any documentation that the original wood tack strips were one-piece in 1928-29? I've seen many bodies that appeared to have the original wood and don't recall anything other than 3 pieces, the same as reproduction pieces sold today. Not long ago someone (Mark Maron?) was looking for pictures, dimensions, etc. of original pieces, but I don't recall any feedback, pictures, etc.. Anyone?? Pictures? or?

of all the things he said, that puzzled me the most. if accurate, then why so much trouble with the '29 roadster body pushing out such that the doors don't close well? wouldn't a one-piece board hold it together?

I ask again, is there any documentation, pictures, etc. that the tack strip was ever made as one piece?

The Body Parts List shows 3 numbers for Left, Center and Right (seat back trim) Rail.

I wish I could get my other computer to work, because I have pictures of an early 1929 Phaeton with no upholstery, but it has good original wood. I'm pretty sure the tack strips around the top of both seat backs were made of one piece of wood.

I'm pretty sure you're right as far as the Phaeton goes Tom, (Parts List also only shows 1 piece both front and rear) it's the Roadster trim rail that's being questioned.

What type of webbing is used between the running board and the splash apron?

Black, 3/4 inch friction tape on the bottom "U" of the splash apron.

Pluck
I've never seen nor heard of that. I know the U channel has drain holes, and mine has a few extra due to rust holes.
