The gas goes bad real fast in any "open" system, such as our old Fords. The newer cars have a "sealed" system which does not collect the moisture. About the only thing that you can do, is to drive them frequently, to keep the mixture stirred up. For long periods of inactivity, it is better for your tank to be empty, rather than full. MIKE |

Re: Still want Ethanol in your Model A????
A friend of mine sells ethanol free gas at his station and he told me today he has noticed a big increase in the ethanol free gas sales. It wreaks havoc on newer cars too, especially older modern iron where the computer can't calibrate to the ethanol gas.
I run ethanol free in everything I own after having a rubber fuel hose disintegrate on my '56 Ford 200 miles from home due to ethanol crap gas. |

We had a speaker at our monthly V8 Club Meeting, a couple months ago. He said to put some ethonol gas into a glass jar, punch a nail hole in the lid and put it on the shelf. Then inspect it in one month, at two months and at three months. You will see what is happening in our gas tanks. I haven't done it yet, but I take his word on it. MIKE |

Expensive, but I hope my fuel system appreciates it.

One of the advantages of living in Mexico. No ethanol in the gas!

Re: Still want Ethanol in your Model A????
There were two stations in my area that had ethanol free gas, and they had customers coming long distances for it. But about a year and a half ago they couldn't get it anymore. I don't know of anyplace in eastern PA where you can get it anymore.

Re: Still want Ethanol in your Model A????
Typically, 100 LL is a little more than a buck a gallon more than Regular Unleaded. Varies from place to place though. Right now here in Anchorage, 100LL = $6.12, Regular Unleaded = $4.27
for your area check: http://www.100ll.com/ |
