If you look down the louvers and the ends of the hood there is a slight curve to them. and you will notice it.

The originals will have some wear at the hooks. The repro rivets have larger heads and the edges are thinner. So the originals will have a blunter edge. The best bet is a visual look down the louvers. You do not need a straight edge, they will be flat or have a curve. For evaluating the hood. The louvers and the area around the louvers is the trickiest area to repair. Cracks or moderately to severely bent up louvers could be beyond your abilities to repair to perfection as you start to get in to some more advanced understanding of metal work. The wear in the bottom is pretty easy to fix. I slip a copper rod in the hood and weld in a patch. The curved top (front to rear) is because the top edge (where the hinge loops are) is stretched and needs to be shrunk- carefully. |
