Default Black smoke and backfiring in stock 41 Ford

So my parents 41 woodie broke down yesterday. Its a new rebuilt engine with fenton duals and smitty glass packs. Of course there are a few holes in the smittys I patched to try and diagnose the problem while Im waiting for the new ones to come in. Shes still blowing black smoke and running rough. I checked the electrical, and all seems fine. Im leaning towards a clogged jet in the carb.

Any help would be appreciated.

power valve bad--carb float set too high--inlet need valve has trash under it. clogged jets in carb would not flood out engine but just the opposite it would lean the engine out

Engine is getting way to much gas the is carb leaking to much gas areas to look at as noted in above post.

If it backfired when first started after rebuild the power valve was surely blown.
