Sooty Spark Plugs
Had a surprise when I removed all four spark plugs for exterior cleanup. Numbers 1 and 2 looked great. Number 3 had some soot and 4 had a lot. Motor has around 3,000 miles on it since overhaul and runs great. Newly rebuilt carb. I have had two exhaust manifolds fail. I would think if the manifold issues caused shooting it would have cleaned up quickly. I run the needle valve quite lean. Any ideas on what the is causing the shooting?

Re: Sooty Spark Plugs
I suddenly developed sooting on all plugs and after months of running badly I discovered my ignition switch was warn and not delivering full 6 volts to the ignition system. Once I changed the switch it ran and started great.
