1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out how the top and bottom seat springs stay in place on a 1931 Closed Cab Pickup. Could someone please post pictures of the back of the seat springs and also the seat riser? I want to get the upholstery done but I think I am missing pieces that hold the springs in place. Thanks, Denny |

Re: 1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
The 82-B closed cab was used for both the A and AA chassis. The seat back had upper and lower retainers for installation. In the first attachment, the lower two images would be for a 1931 cab. The seat back was not removable without removing the upper retainer screws.
There were two extensions on the bottom of the seat bottom spring which fit on the inside of the seat riser heal kick. These extensions held the seat bottom from moving out or side-to-side. The second attachment shows the extension for a reproduction 82-A cab. The 82-B cab has basically the same extensions. The seat bottom was held in by the pressure of the seat bottom pushing forward against the extensions.

Re: 1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
Thanks for the pictures. Is there a wooden frame structure that attaches to the seat back?
Thanks, Denny |

Neither the back rest or cushion springs have a frame. There are vertical wood supports attached to the cab for the back rest.

Re: 1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
I see they sell the seat back retainers. Does anyone know if they sell the bottom extensions and also the seat riser part that the bottom extension slides into?

Re: 1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
Bob, that is a great photo showing an early 1930 82-B cab. It has the top seat back retainers welded to the cab along with a screw mounted lower retainer. The retainers for Denny's 1931 cab would have has the later retainers.

Snyder's has a late 1931 seat frame (A-821-BL) which you may need. Verify what you need before buying. Below is the A-821-B seat frame https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...earchByKeyword

Re: 1931 Closed Cab Pickup Seat
Thank you for the picture Bob! I do have the lower back seat retainers but no upper retainers. The springs are good but I am missing both bottom extensions. Maybe I can fabricate those. Are they welded to the seat frame?
