I have headlight covers , 1940 deluxe style , but non chromed and without
a parking light light hole on the top ...just ribbed . Are these aftermarket , or from another model ? Thanks for the help/advice . Mick |

Photo of the headlight cover would help!
it's like asking a guy to ID the color of your tie over the phone. Mark |

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
My guess is they are seal beam conversion doors for '37 to '39 Fords.

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
It sounds like a 40 commercial, I had a set a while back just as you described.
I asked a ford parts person and he said they were for commercial vehicles, they look the same as a car but have no cut out for park lightes. |

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
I agree with 42Merc. NO 40 headlight doors were as described.

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
Something like these ugly things? If so, NOT '40 Ford! Probably ELECTROLINES. DD

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
Mick, One thing that might make life easier when posting a photo, is when you take the shot, adjust the camera settings for a 'lower resolution' like for a 4x6 printout instead of a larger image which may not upload as easily.
When you post the reply, go to Advanced, find the paperclip icon near the top of the toolbar, and browse to find the photo either on the camera or on the computer, click upload. I like to preview the post before sending the reply. -VT/JeffH |

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
I don't think that is Ford. Definitely not commercial.

Re: unusual 1940 headlight cover ?
Not Commercial, not even Ford. They are an aftermarket sealed beam conversion piece. I have seen them advertised as 40 headlight doors a million times but they aren't. IIRC, the 40 deluxe used the chrome doors and the 40 standards and 40 and 41 half ton commercials used the painted doors with a stainless bezel around the parking light lens.
