35 Ford Horn questions
I have some doubts about the horns that should fit a 35 Phaeton Ford, I had read the horns information on the 35-36 EF V-8 Book, but still have some doubts:
· 35 Ford horns are the same for other Ford years, like 33 – 34? Are these horns used on other car manufacturers? · How I can identify repros from original horns? · Anyone know where I can buy a pair of original reconditioned horns? Many thanks Fredys |

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
33-34 horns are Sparton CL-4, 35 are CL-6 (on both the top covers are embossed so), both have chrome final projectors on the bottom but 33-34 have a different opening shape than the more oval 35. The horns are two tone, each has a slightly different tone due to the thickness of the metal diaphragms inside. I believe the internals for the 33-34 and the 35 horns are the same. The reproductions I have seen have a completely different operating mechanism.

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
Anyone have a source for rebuilding '35 horns? Mine aren't very loud. I've tried adjusting the points, but without much success.

Are they grounded well?

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
Could also be poor/high resistance electrical connections at horn button or at wire connector pins going into brass tubes.

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
Thanks, fellows. I think I'll check the grounds first. If that doesn't work, I'll try Ray Helgers.

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
Might try some jumper wires straight to the battery, run a good ground wire direct from the horn to the battery ground and then connect a second wire directly to the hot side of the battery. You should then be able to touch the other end of the hot wire to the horn connection and test the horn (and produce sparks!). That should tell you if it is the horn or a wiring or ground issue.

Re: 35 Ford Horn questions
Terry OH, Thanks for the info. Russcc thanks to share the contact, I have contacted with Ray Helgers but he hasn’t 35 horns.
Anyone know other possible source of 35 horns? Rheltzer, no problem, the info shared on this tread could also be useful to me and other. Fredys |
