Default 32-34 vs 35 Brake drum

Hello to everybody. Today I realized that the front brake drums and front brake plate that I have for the restoration of my 35 Phaeton don’t match with the year of my car. I think they are 32-34 parts. Also the rear brake drums that I have I think are from a 32-34 Ford.
I need to know if there are functional differences between 32-34 brake parts and 35, If is possible to install 32-34 front brake plates on a 35?, If the drums have the same dimension? If the brake shoes are the same for both years? And the rest of brake parts?
Can anybody help me with this?.
I enclose some pictures of the front brake drum and back plates.

Rest regards,
Fredys Medina

What you have there is 32-34 stuff. 35 drums are wider to accomodate the wider shoes, and are ribbed around the outer drum area. Guess you're on the hunt for correct parts now...Good luck.

And you probably know that the 35 drum does not have the air cooling (water begging) cut outs. Perry

Actually...35 front drums do have the cutouts. To minimise the egress of water, there were pressed tin covers that were fitted between wheel and drum.

A friend had a 36 roadster with original brakes and the cutouts in the drums. Walt

Thanks to all for your answer.
Reading the 35-36 book, I found that for the 35 year, the front drums was allways the open style, and for the rear they could be either open or closed style. All of them have the extra ribs that gives more cooling properties. Also said that shoe linings were shortened and their wide increased, with a total braking area of 186. Sq inches.
Also I have the book V8 Affair, but I found that the information on this book don’t machted with the information on 35-36 Book. On V8 Affair gives the same dimension for the shoes for years 1932 to 1936, and give the dimension for the shoes of 13,25” length and 1,75” width, that makes a total of 186 sq inches.
Anyone know whar are the correct dimension for 35 shoes? To determine if mine are correct or not?
Regards,
Fredys

That is only one of the many errors in the V8 Affair! The brake components you have; the items you photographed are for 32-34 Fords, and whilst they might fit up to your car, have a smaller total amount of brake lining. The 32-34 shoes are narrower than subsequent models.

35 frt drums have the same cutouts as 32-34. The cutouts were not a water issue IF they were used with the correct wire wheels. The proper wheels rested on the near edge of the drum on 32 - 35 cars. They sat on the flat area of the drum and effectively sealed the brakes from water. Later wheels, 1940+ up would not seal this area. Also the bearing placement on 35&36 drums were different than 32-34 and 37-48 drums, this meant of course that that the spindles were different.

Here are a few photos of a 35/36 brake shoe and lining. The lining is 1.75" wide by 13.75 " long. This gives you slightly over 24 sq In per shoe.
