valve noise ticking
I have a 48 coupe that the eng was re-built several years back and is very noise valves ticking, other then that it cranks and runs great. Can the valves be adjusted with the motor in the car?.

Yes, they can. You will need to pull the heads and the intake manifold.

Assuming it has adjustable lifters, all you'll have to pull is the intake manifold.

depending on whether your engine has adjustable lifters or not, if it has adjustable lifters all you have to do is pull the intake and reset the noisey valves, if it has non adjustable valves the can still be adjusted if you find a friendly mechanic that will do the work, you will have to pull one or two heads and intake, remove the noisiey valve and either grind the seat or valve face to get the proper clearance, or get one adjustable lifter to replace the solid one(s)

It did set for several years after being built. At first i diden notice the clicking then it seam worse. I have been driving it and getting it as hot as it get. also added some zinc to oil and mmo to gas. Hoping it will help I will try 10w30.

Try drizzling some MMO down the carb for a few minutes keeping it running
all the time. Do this outside as there will be a lot of smoke. G.M.
