Backfiring
I have a 1934 Ford V8 with 100,000 original miles. It backfires intermittently. New wires, plugs, condenser with recently rebuilt coil. Any suggestions?

Re: Backfiring
Did it do this prior to all of the new stuff?

Re: Backfiring
Maybe a valve sticking open or burned.

Re: Backfiring
Backfiring can also be associated with an intermittent loss of voltage in the ignition system somewhere. May want to check wire connections and a possible wire rub through to the body. A while back I chased a backfire and found a coil on the ballast resistor had broken and was barely touching. Just last week I got the pleasure of troubleshooting another backfire and found the ignition switch contacts were toasted and causing the problem. Good luck!
