How often does it update the RPM?

Is it 4 turns to dial in a 4 cylinder?

Does that mean 8 turns for a v8?

Got onee of those puppies in my S/W. Difference is the lead wire wraps 4 times around the Coil to Dist wire. It also has a wire to battery (terminal box) instead of the small replacable battery. The unit came from Tiny Tachs.

Mike V, the delay time for the rpm's is about 2 seconds. Sometimes that is frustrating.

That looks pretty cool. Did you have to drill anything.

does this item also get dropped into the box of bad decisions ?
there are various reasons for installing a tachometer .
i feel the need to know after two seconds has lapsed is a bit late and by then it's changed.
is it a hold it steady gauge ?
i'm just familiar with the conventional dial style and prefer to read it at times while shifting up mostly and a glance at times while down shifting. just to know .
Al, can you update us on your success and satisfaction of that electrical impulse notifier ?

so far I like the tach. it does take 1.5 to 2 seconds to update, but my reason for it was if I had to pull a hill in 2nd gear I could keep an eye on rpm and keep it around 2000rpm. I dont use it for shifting, I shift by the sound and feel. it runs at 1950rpm at 45mph and 2150rpm at 50mph in 3rd. mainly wanted it for curiosity sake and am suprised of the hours that accumulate.

this may be a dumb question, but does the car have to be 12 volts to run the tach?

In his post. He states it has a internal battery. The delay would bother me . But at a constant rpm would work pretty good. !!

The insulation on the sensor wire looks very thin and since the plug connectors are not insulated do you think some extra insulation should be used to prevent extraneous shock if touching the sensor wire in the car?
Also how long does the lithium battery last ? is it replaceable?

Johnbuckley. My instructions stated to put a short piece of vinyl tube over the spark plug wire. In my case I just wrapped it around the coil to dist wire.

I put heatshrink on the plug wire then wrapped the sensor wire and then another heatshrink over the entire thing
