Default Drive safe

A friend of mine was out for a ride yesterday and had a car run a stop sign and he "T" boned him in his Model "T". He is OK for now, but will see how he feels in a couple days. his "T" is bent pretty bad.

That stinks. I hope your friends okay. I assume the insurance company will probably total it.

It is a shame to see an old ford hurt so bad, I hope your friend is doing well. If your friend has a sense of humor, you could tell him it is a good time to upgrade to a new modern vehicle such as, a Model ‘A’. After 42 years of ownership there is nothing that can replace the memories. I wish him the best.

That's really a bad deal. Nowdays, you not only have to drive for yourself, but for all the idiots on the road that like to text, eat and all sorts of other distracted driving, besides feeling it's fine for them to run red lights and stop signs.

Since your friend hit the other driver, don't be surprized if some slick lawyer and judge make this accident his fault for entering the intersection before making sure it was safe to do so. It's happened to me. A drunk ran a stop sign and hit me. The damage was less then $200 back in 1965, but the cop I called to the scene told the drunk to drive on home, then the cop wote me a ticket for having my graduation tassel hanging from the mirror.

" A Lapeer, Mich., man who police say caused a fatal crash while texting and driving has been sentenced to just one month in jail and 12 months of probation. It was the first case of its kind since the state passed a ban on texting while driving last August.

Phone records obtained by the police revealed that Joseph was texting seconds before the impact."

Al, What a shame. I sure hate to see that beautiful T in it's bent up condition. My '55 Chevy was T boned by my neighbor just 10 weeks after i got it, never been hit and it had 15K miles on it. I didn't even get an apology and i was very lucky he had insurance. Farm bureau was the best ever, took great care of me. My rear window has a sign on it now "My last tailgater bought me this car"

I hope he recovers (health & T) completely.

We had a bit of "uprise" a while back about redlight cameras here in Fl. Some people think they are unfair and just a way to generate revenue. Probably the same people that run stoplights.

When the wife and I were in England and driving the main roads in west England, I was surprised that I didn't see any cops (bobbies) in cars on the road. I asked the friends we were visiting and they told me you just get a ticket in the mail. They clock you from bridges and cameras and just send you a bill!

I hope he is doing well and I hope his car gets restored as well. Something like that scares me around my neck of the woods. If something like that happened to me, besides being really $#%#$%#$%$ mad, I would own them. Sorry, for ranting about texting/talking on the phone while driving.

There was a study of stop light cameras in Chicago recently that found it actually increased the number of accidents at an intersection because people are more likely to come to a sudden stop when the light turns yellow and the person behind them rear-ends them thinking the first car was gonna go on through the yellow.

Wow that looks bad. At least he didn't get hurt. The car can be replaced or fixed, but sometimes life isn't the same. Hopefully he can get it fixed. I'd be heart broken if that was my car.

the crosstown expressway in Tampa photographs your license plate and sends an invoice for the toll.
good system, it lowers the cost of toll collection and minimizes pilferage.

wonder what they did last Thanksgiving with the photo of the 1931 FL plate on our Town Sedan

There are several studies that prove just that (look up Georgia and Florida studies). The same studies also show that increasinf the yellow light 1 sec will decrease the accidents and the running of yellow lights.

I think a lot of the tolls are moving in that direction. Might speed the tolls up some.
