Back in the day!!
Here's a picture of me with my '30 Tudor in Dam Neck, VA in 1958. I drove the car down from MA and then back when I finished school. Lots of stories to tell!!

Re: Back in the day!!
Long gone!! I sold it when I entered the Naval Academy in 1960. But then I bought another just like it when I graduated. I drove it to work for five years when I was stationed on two different destroyers in Newport, RI. Sold that one when my first daughter was born. I've sold a number of cars that I wish I still had!!

Haven't we all! 1951 Chevy Belair Hardtop, 1955 Chevy Belair Hardtop, 1961 Beetle, 1970 VW Bus. All worth a lot more than I paid for them. |

Re: Back in the day!!
DD931 Cool Picture. I remember getting a ride with a class mate from Great Lakes(ET school), to Millawalkee, WI in a Model A during the winter just for the cost of gas.
BTW congratulations on being accepted to the Naval Academy. Bet you were a pretty good officer being enlisted first. I thank the Navy for pointing me in the correct direction, as did not know what an ET(Electronics Technician) was before going to A school. Got out went to work for IBM and got my degree in Electrical Engineering during the evening. Worked for IBM for 42 and 1/2 years. The Navy was a great experience and still miss the ocean especially the great sleep while aboard ship. Was leading ET on USS Okinawa LPH3 for a couple of years. |
