Some progress
IMG_3691.jpg
IMG_3690.jpg IMG_3689.jpg IMG_3688.jpg IMG_3687.jpg IMG_0142.jpgA progress report on my speedster, after a few years. Thanks to Keith (Wensum) I had a lovely body design to go on. As seen in one of the attachments (I hope) there was a lot of bits and what looked like a reasonable chassis. It came with a spare block thankfully as the original had a rusted out water jacket. All parts were cleaned soda blasted holes, cracks welded up and given several coats of chassis paint. I rebuilt the spare motor block and had to have it bored 40 over. The body is built on 23mm construction plywood. The shape was lofted from Keith's drawings and uprights secured to the base. Strips of 1/8 x 1/2in pine were nailed and glued to the uprights, then the same size strips glued at a 45 degree angle to the first layer. Fibre glass cloth attached to all of that. So far so good. The motor started on the second swing of the handle and runs as it should, no over heating and smooth idle. The instrument panel is Ford Prefect, indicator switch on the far right, choke/GAV above the steering wheel and Ki-Gass primer (looks only) on the left. MG-B shocks on the rear, Andre type to go on the front and Brookland's type wind screens. Polished alloy hood, bottle green exterior with light tan seats, or at least that is the plan at the moment.

Re: Some progress
That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen!
Just kidding, I am truly enviest of your skills in the wood work you have done. Truly Truly a fine piece of craftsmanship and I cannot wait to see it all shiny and done. I have problems cutting a straight line.

Re: Some progress
That is beautiful! I would leave that wood natural.
Keep the pictures and updates coming. BTW, did you know, the steering wheel is on the wrong side?
