Red face My girlfriend drove the model a today >.<

My girlfriend came over today to check out my chassis. she had helped out alot on the restoration (can be seen on my website). She asked if she could drive it and i said sure. She can kind of drive a manual but not 100% yet. She has practiced on my 1991 Jeep Wrangler 5 Speed.

Anyways, heres the link to her driving the Chassis for the first time.

Very nice. You're very fortunate, my wife won't go anywhere near mine. Enjoy.

I just knew that canoe was a goner! Better start looking for another Model A for her to drive or you may never get your's back.

Both the car and the girlfriends are keepers... and they both can cost you money. You are a fortunate young man.

My wife says she'll ride in my car "when it's finished". So, when is anyone ever "finished" restoring their car? But next year my daughter is sixteen, and maybe I'll teach her to drive a stick shift in my A...

It's good that everybody learns to drive a stick trans early in their driving life as you never know when you need to in an emergency. Same goes with the Model A and double clutching. You never know when you're out driving and something befalls your ability to drive it back. My wife just drove 113 miles with fifteen other A's Sunday on our progressive dinner/garage tour. It was a nice relief after I drove 120 miles Saturday with a different club on a color tour.

Jeez,

I drive 100 miles every day for my normal commute.

That said, my old man taught me the standard 3 speed shift pattern when I was 4. I've never forgotten it.

Thats funny all it took in mine was one ride, my new Lady friends 08 fusion lost its brakes last week so i showed up in my truck to pick her up. Untill this she wouldent get in it opting to take hers. While AAA droped her car off at my house me and her headed off in the A to get parts for her car. she loved it that night shes asking me to teach her how to drive it and already trying to make spring plans for drives up the coast her one stipulation is she gets to drive atleast one way. IM getting Scared lol

Mike, when you get a body on the "A" you might never see the car or the girlfriend again!

You are one lucky man there Mike, a great looking girl who is interested in your hobby. My wife and I have done over 76000 miles in our Model A and my wifes only complaint is that she does not drive the Model A as often as she likes to do. It's always a fight to see who gets behind the steering wheel first. Unlike ourselves you are both young and I'm sure that you have many years of happy Model A touring ahead of you. I have seen many vintage car enthusiasts fall away from the hobby because it was a one sided affair with the wife or partner complaining about too much money and or time being spent on the hobby. So, enjoy it together and live every day as though it was your last. May you have many happy miles together.

I agree with RcT, they're both keepers. I did notice that she appears to have some experience in driving over Curbs, so you might want to keep an eye out for that. LOL

What Body do you have for this chassis, or did you already mention it and I forgot or failed to see it ?

I'm also lucky in that my wife loves to go Cruisin' with me in "Miss Tillie".

So, I guess you don't have to register at the Department Store before getting married, just have everybody contribute to bids on a Phaeton on ePay.

And how to use the starter and overdrive to drive a car out of a stream bed when the engine quits...

And how to shift when the synchros on a modern tranny go out far from home...
