Re: my 39 is home at last
What a great looking truck, my wife talked me out of a 39 truck 5 years ago, she has not had a good birthday gift since. I like the "working" look, no shiny paint needed there.

Nice. I have always liked the 38-39s, but I like most Fords.

Re: my 39 is home at last
the motor is just a little putt putt motor.29A heads 239 merc .I had no idea. 31thousand original miles. it started life as a 2 ton tanker fire engine ,hence the red paint/dual wipers .I kept the cab doors and motor.I picked up a rolling frame and started on the hunt for everything else
I have allot of super nice folks on here to thank . Parts and knowledge from all over. Last edited by Mike in Mass; 02-05-2017 at 08:41 AM. |

Re: my 39 is home at last
Were the headlight units with the parking lights from the fire truck? I don't think I've seen that arrangement on a 1/2 half ton.

Re: my 39 is home at last
i would clean up the interior and drive it till the wheals go square! its a lot of money for body and paint. if i spent that i would not want to drive it. nice truck!

Looking good Mike. I can't really remember, but hope I helped you in some small way to get this back on the road.

Re: my 39 is home at last
Mike, have fun with that truck. I wouldn't worry much about paint and body. You'll drive it more the way it is. I have a great time driving my '39 pickup around town on the weekends. Enjoy.

Re: my 39 is home at last
Being a long time '38-'39 truck lover and having deep roots in SE Massachusetts, I also noticed the barn. The combination of the two makes an indelible impression for sure! Just don't succumb to the temptation to drive it in that wretched salt slush!
