Thanks for sharing.
Yesterday, my wife and I ate at an In&Out Burger place on Sunset and Orange, about a mile away from where your picture was taken. I've never been to a more crowded In&Out. As much as I enjoy In&Out burgers, I would have gladly driven the extra mile to Carpenter's Sandwich drive in. Too bad it and it's 1932 customers are no longer there.
By the way, my #3 combo meal came to $6 with taxes. Carpenter's prices are better.

The Old Motor used to post here all the time. What happened to them?

If I had money and was in the proper climate, I build that drive-in exactly the way it was. Of course I think it would be an open invitation to drive-bys no matter where it would be located today.

I may be wrong but the only place St Louis has that would be comparable still in operation would be Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard on old Route 66.

I've never been there but someday I will.........

My understanding is that the Hollywood In-N-Out is the busiest store in the chain. The son of some people we know is/was the manager there. It looks like (from a Google search) that the Carpenter's site is now a Chase bank. Is the coupe just to the right of the 90 cent Brake Adjustment a 1930-31 Model A?

Did the great depression not hit LA?

That's an amazing percent of late model cars for being during the middle of the depression.
