Default 34 Garwood Fender Skirt question

I have a set of 34 Garwood fender skirts. Unfortunately some (or most) of the latching rods, hooks, brackets or whatever on the backs of the skirts are missing. I really don't know what is missing because I don't know how Garwood attached the skirts to the fender back in the day.

Is there someone that is an expert on Garwood skirts that could provide parts and/or drawings?

If I can't find parts or drawings, does anyone have back side pictures? Or installation instructions? Perhaps I could make parts if I could determine what I needed to make.

Thank You.

Nothing to answer your query, but golly....how could one NOT love those things, as seen here on one of DIGGER's beautimus '34s. Looks like something even Clark Gable might settle for. DD

Mine are similar to the photos that 51 MERC CT posted. Apparently Garwood used different methods at different times during production.

Were there any modifications required to the fender?

V8COOPMAN, thanks for posting a shot of my 34, that was the restoration of a lifetime.

Yes I did do some modifications to make sure the skirts didn't come flying off while driving, (which did happen to me a few cars back with the same skirts).

The set of skirts on my car shown are the second type shown above that 51 Merc posted. Reminder that back in the 80-90s, Bruce Johnson repop'd them like this. The true 82 year old sets are like the first set 51 Merc posted, based on the 33-34 Restoration manual, and the pair that I have.

So back to the securing of the skirts to the car....

I had the body and paint guys tack weld a three tabs in the inner fender to correspond to the three tabs on the skirt. Put the skirt on the car, lined it up, drilled a hole through the tab sets. Then used stainless screw with lock washer and wing nut to mount.

The hardest part was finding an appropriate "skirt welding" that worked well, and was not too much of an eyesore.

By the way, I have a '34 Three Window for sale, maroon, great metal, asking $57,500

If it runs I would be interested. I did put my 33 5 window in the V8 Ford Museum.
