Default 64 Galaxie inaccurate eng temp reading

The fuel gauge read 1/2 and the temp gauge was pegged full hot. Replaced the engine temp sensor - no change on temp reading.

Replaced the constant voltage regulator -- no fuel reading and temp gauge reads 1/4 with hot engine.

With hot engine, the Temp reading at idle is at zero and up to 1/4 at speed.

Using a Harbor Freight Laser Temperature Gun the hot engine temp is 185 on the radiator and 165 on the hoses.

Looking for a solution. on the relay, power wire is connected to the ING terminal and the fuel/temp leads to a common lead are connected to the other relay terminal.
