Ron: valuable information. I knpow nothing about the suspension and brakes on these cars! It is all original and had no plans of making any mods to any part of it except for maintenance. I know the shocks have never been oiled because I asked the orig owner. So I plan on doing that at least. He told me he used to paint the springs with motor oil? It goes down the road pretty nicely actually. I did notice a swish swish noise and that may be the shocks screaming for some oil. The car has 97K on it. Not good news about the brake drums though!

Nothing wrong with going fast, Nothing wrong with stopping either. I still run points. Always starts. Not putting down electric points either.

Mechanical brakes work very well if adjusted correctly. Don't be fooled, you'll get lot's of suggestions. take it all in.

It's a process. Creep up on it. Drive it and get a feel for it.


Motor oil is natures anti-rust. Nothing to be lost from spraying oil under an old ford.

I'm in the process of collecting parts to "restore" (read get driveable) a '36 fordor too. I'm hoping to get mine to the place yours is. Mostly original and safe. Mine still has the original block in it but I have a motor like yours to put in it. A '53 merc.
*any* pics would be appreciated.
Does yours have:
Chrome trim on the edges of the running board?
Flip out windows for the rear quarter windows?

I have no pics of the suspension at all. I have been taking pics of things I am working on. What parts are you looking for? I will be working on it tomorrow so I could slide under and take some for you.
I have the chrome on the pass side RB only and it is pretty beat!
Yes, I have the flip out rear windows.

I will post some pics of my car. I have rust on the bottom leading edge on both side. I already have the new repair panel for 99.00 each. That is the only serious rust on the car
