Default What generator do I have?

Stamped 8BA-D. I think this is the date code A-1-1, correct? Has two brushes and a field, ground and armeture connection.
Second part of the question . Can I install a generator fan mounted pulley on it?

The "8BA-D" identifies it as to type, not date. This is a common 35 amp, 6 volt unit used on both V8 and 6 cyl from 48 thru 51. To run a fan off the front, you need to modify the existing pulley. None of the early (pre-1940) fan-mount pulleys are very suitable for use with the late generators because of differences in front plates and armatures.

Do all generator pulley's interchange after 1940, to 1953? I don't see how I could modify the existing without changing the assembly out.

40 to 48 generator pulleys mount to the armature shaft in a different way than the 49 -53 pulleys. The 40-48 have internal threads, thread onto the armature shaft and are retained by a snap ring. The 49-53 are not threaded, but have a Woodruff key and are retained by a lockwasher and nut (more or less the same as the pre-39 generators). Also, the 40-48 pulleys are not fan-drive.
To modify the existing 49-53 pulley to drive a fan, a fan mounting piece has to be fabricated and welded to the pulley. PM me for more details on this modification.

I'm running a stock Ford pulley -with a fan- on a 12V (1956 up) armature... All stock Ford parts, found at swap meets. So, it's possible. The pulleys I've used thread on...
I would be hard pressed to speak to the exact parentage of the parts, though.

What you want to try is a pulley from 37-39 2 brush generator, there are several diameters -I know they will fit the 42-48 style, have never tried on the 8ba type held to the bracket with a band ---what you want to look in is the "green book" there will be pictures, there may be some versions with the threads in the pulley like 42-48, but most are held on with a nut.
