Default Fuel/Natchez Trace

I am the preliminary stages of planning a Natchez Trace trip. For those of you who have done it, was fuel an issue? Did you carry a Jerrycan. If so, where is the safest place to carry one. I would imagine not on the trunk rack as it would do Pinto impersonation if rear ended.

I’ve driven the Trace from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Tupelo, Mississippi in my A. I dont remember any commercilazation at all. The Trace crosses over Interstates and US highways where fuel is closely and readily available.

We drove the Natchez Trace in a 35 Ford from Nashville to Natchez, MS. several years ago. No fuel problems at all. Just pay attention to your gas gauge. Fuel at intersections as stated above. Lovely trip at a leisurely 40-45 MPH. Enjoy some great Southern cooking at the small, independent local restaurants in Natchez.
