Default roof overhang missing piece?

On the 1927 ford where the wood roof frame overhangs the front windshield , is there a metal cover that goes on the underside of the overhang? The sun visor screws to the overhang , I know this, but is there a piece of metal that goes here from side to side? Thanks John

There is no metal on the underneath of the visor. The top and bottom of the visor is covered in long grain Cobra. John
