Choke
So, just curious as to how, if having to hand crank my A, how do you go about closing the choke from outside the car? The model t had a choke rod that came out the right front below the rad. But guess I never knew how to choke the A while hand cranking. A close pin around the choke rod maybe?? Thanks

String a piece of hay wire from the eye on the choke lever through the radiator, pull the wire to close the choke.

I keep this wire under the seat i found it along the side of the road in time of need,because it is temporary i open the hood to use it, i hook it in the empty hole in the bottom of the choke lever

My rod has a gromet on the bottom of the gas tank that kind of holds it. I seldom use my crank. Maybe in the barn, at the start of spring when I don't wanna drag the battery down any more than I have to, till I get a charge on the battery. Besides, I usually use my foot and kinda jump on my hand-crank. My engine is pretty still, and I'm not thta big of a guy.
Been my experience I don't need the choke plate to be dead closed. I open my GAV a bit too. Once it fires I can retreat to the drivers compartment and smooth everything out. The wire...yeah I guess you could, but I'd be inclined to hold it around the radiator shell. My radiator cost $585 plus shipping. |

Leave the key off, set the choke and pull up on the hand crank a couple of times.
Push in the choke, turn the key on and pull up on the hand crank a couple times to start it. Oh... and don't forget to turn on the gas first.
