Another valve adjustment question
Trying to adjust the valves on this 1930 engine. As this is my first time with this type of lifter adjustment, it's not going as I thought it should.
As I understand it, I need three wrenches. One to hold the tappet, one to loosen the lock nut and another to turn the adjuster up/down to set the proper clearance. My problem is the lock nut doesn't want to loosen up and I thought I'd better ask for help before I boogered something up. Any shared experience or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Another valve adjustment question
You can really get by with 2 wrenches. At least one of them should be thinned down on a grinder or be a designated tappett wrench.Loosen the lock and turn the top adjuster up close to the valve and relock the nut fairly tight, this creates an interference fit and holds the adjustment. To adjust the top closer to the valve and close the lash, hold the nut and run the top adjuster up a little. If the lash is too close hold the tappett and run the adjuster down to increase the lash. Once the lash is correct hold the tappett and tighten the nut pretty tight. Move to the next valve. You will turn the motor to raise the valve and adjust it and turn the motor 360 degrees by the crank to lower it to check the lash. Sounds daunting but, it is not all that bad after you do it about 100 times.
