Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
All my model a have their own personality just like 4 different kids, all different love the all the same just all different.
I am not lucky enough to have ANY history of my cars. I find myself wondering--what was the family like that owned it first--how excited they must have been--did-a teenager get it along the was as his/her first car mayby $25 investment? What was that last painful drive after which it could just go no more? How long did it set alone abandoned before we started restoring it to its former glory? That what I love about my cars. |

That my father-in-law owned her since the early fifties. My wife has countless memories from her childhood in the 29 Tudor that her Dad drove daily. The headliner has graffiti curtesy of her and her sister that adds so much charm.

Being in touch with the road. Steering feedback, shifting, hearing the traffic around the car (top down), knowing I can fix most things by the side of the road, smiles from people looking on, especially children and seasoned citizens.
Modern cars (which I enjoy), all look the same, and isolate you from the world.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
I like driving mine best of all; I like the simplicity, reliability, aesthetics...
The first Model A I can recall seeing was a '30 Coupe, black with Apple Green wheels, at a small museum somewhere in South Central / South East PA in the early 1970's. My first "Model As" were a series of Hubley (pre-Gabriel) die-cast kits, starting with the Coupe. I've always loved the sound of them... My first "real" A is the '28 Special Coupe in my avatar photo. Found it in the car-corral at the local AACA Region meeti in 2009. It was priced reasonably and was "all there and running", so I grabbed it. My biggest regret is that the coupe will only carry two adults. Next one will be a sedan or Touring car. SC Frank |

My Delivery is the only one of its body style known within 200 miles in almost any direction. There are afew Hotrods that have the fiberglass conversions, but no all steel bodies. Closest one I know of is is in Southeasters Colorado. Rod

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
The first thing I like about my model a,s is all the neat people that like them also. I also like that they never smell of brake fluid, I can take the spark plugs out with a cresent wrench, the fuel pump never goes bad,if the gas line goes bad it only takes a minute to take it off,and I understand how the ignition system works. There are many other things I like to ie: horn, engine sound, how it starts in the cold,on and on. Frank

What's not to love? We have 5 Model A's and just love the history they represent, the conversations they inspire, and the smiles they engender.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
when I was a little kid in the early 50's, I noticed they sounded different than the other old cars. I loved the sound of the 29 tudor across the street, and ran over there every time I heard the screen door slam when the old lady over there would go out to start it up.
Once I got one, I fell for the look over the hood as I drive, the soothing, soft rumble of the engine, being surrounded by the sound from the tail pipe and feeling I am going back in time. There's something comforting about it all. I had a radio in it for one trip, but don't bother with it anymore. I can listen to it run all day long and never get tired of it. |

I agree with Pat, no radio needed in the Model A.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
I own a business that provides tech support for just about every small business in my area. All day I am working on modern technology such as PC's, server, routers, smartphones, websites, software, etc. All day I am surrounded by a very digital world. At the end of the day my brain is fried. When I get in the Tudor my world turns to analog and I can feel all the stress leave my head as soon as my tail hits the seat. So the thing I love about my A is the A-nalog of it.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
What I love about our Model A's is that in my mind, they transport me back to the simpler times of our lives. The memories of our ice cream trips with our kids, the model A camping trips in the San Juans, and the low stress simplicity of the Model A's operation has always been an enjoyable experience for me. Our kids are in their late 40's now.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
I love that it links me to my dad who passed away shortly after we restored a Tudor and a coupe.
Now, I love the looks on my young sons' faces when we take them through the neighborhood. |

No body has mentioned the Ahooga Horn. Such a happy sound. You gotta love it!

I like how it has one set of rattles in the summer and a whole different set of rattles in the winter.

Re: What is it that YOU love about your car.
I love that my tudor was Grandpas first car. My uncle Tom drove it throughout high school and collage. My Daddy drove it around in the 80's then I received it in 2008. I love that it has been in the family since the early 40's and will continue to be in the family for the next 40's!
