The trick is to find exactly how much advance at what RPM and load is right! After all, "garbage in equals garbage out!" So someone would need to spend a whole lot of dyno time plotting the correct timing "map". I doubt any existing aftermarket software would work, even "self-learning" ones.

If you ever read any threads posted by Richard from FL back a few years ago. He developed the adjustable advance used in the GM distributors today. He build a "Road rig" that recorded the operation of the carb and ignition system over a 50 mile route 60% street 30% cruse. He used this infoemation to tune the engine in both timing curves and AF. His resuild were posted here on the barn on regular basis. I had helped him build a 276L-100 powerd 3800 lb 53 Ford T. Finily getting a 22mPG resuilt. I went down to Florida and drove the car, spent 2 weeks touring the area nd observing the performance of the car. Acceleration was fantastic and drivability was excellent.
I often wondered why most of this information has been ignored?? |
