Question Ford Pickup Wheels

ALL: Recently purchased a set of four WWW tires at a SUPER price, but they are 15" - I want to use them on my '51 PU, which currently has 16" wheels. Anyone know what other years of 15" wheels will fit the PU bolt pattern?? I want standard steelies - not chrome or otherwise........

Late 40's Mercury used a 15" wheel that will work, or more commonly Ford pickup wheels used the same hubcap up until 1965, so any 15" pickup wheel from the 50's or early 60's will work. There are 5", 5.5" and 6" wide wheels, so pay attention to that, so you don't end up with a mis-matched set.

Hard to find now, but....57/8 Chrystler Imperial used a 15" wheel. The stock Ford hub caps snaps on by using early Plymouth hub caps clips, riveted on, but easily chiseled or ground off.

Marcus,
I am thinking like NealinCa. The later truck wheels were 15" and will fit. You can advertise on the Swap Meet or the HAMB and maybe find a set. New wheels are available too.

Marcus, what about 15", 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern Merc wheels. I have been looking for some nice 16"x 4" or 4-1/2" wide, 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern wheels to use on one of my '35 fords. Came up with four of these 15" '49 Merc wheels instead. I don't know if your hub caps would work on these type wheels though.

Marcus, depending on your choice of hub cap, you can run Econoline wheels up through the mid to late (I think) '60's.

'48 up through '65 Ford 1/2 ton's came with either 15's or 16's and they all have the
"innie" hubcap nubs, same as the '40 through '48 car style hubcap, and the '40-'65
1/2 ton hubcaps.

'66 through '96 Ford 1/2 ton's have the correct bolt pattern, but they have the "outie"
hubcap nubs, and take the more common 10 1/8 inch hubcaps.

The '49 through '51 Merc wheels are unique, in that they have the correct bolt pattern
to fit your pickup, but they are the Only years to have "outie" hubcap nubs that take
an 11 inch hubcap.

Yes, if it has Original wheels, they will have the "innie" nubs.

But, ya better give a visual check, as many have been
changed to newer, or different wheels throughout the years.

Marcus, I sent that message using Fordbarn's email system which does not give me a saved copy. I'll try to remember what I said and send you another email or maybe a pm this time.
