My folks bought a brand new '54 Ford V8/auto Customline tudor, the first new car they ever owned. In '56 (I was 10), I talked my dad into installing a complete Sears dual exhaust system that included a new left hand manifold and glass packs. We did the swap in our small one car garage.
Mom thought it was cool, dad not so much, as he had to drive it to work, and it was loud. But, it sounded so good!
I don't remember any other kid my age, in my neighborhood or at school, who's parents had dual glass packs on their car in '56!

My first car in '62 was a......'54 Ford.

Probably about $1500 ...lotta coin back then . My late uncle bought a new '52 , then traded on a '53 and finally went to a new '54 ...all pretty much the same shade of green .Obviously he liked that body style .

Your almost on the money for the low end.

list prices for a brand new '54 Ford ranged from...from $1,548 to $2,415. HRP
