I have a 390 cfm Holley on a 8ba with a 3/4 cam and aluminum heads and it works great out of the box.I am happy with it.

A 390 holley is a 390 holley - shop for price, or patronize your favorite retailer.

When switching to any 4bl, you have to change the distributor. At this point your not i a plug and play mode. You'll have to find the right advance curve and AF for your engine. Done right, you get great performance as well as economy.

I was thinking about the Edelbrock 500 some more. I've never run a 4 bbl so I don't know, but I would think it was be right on par with running a 3X2 set-up.

If I recall correctly, three 97's wide open would get you in the ballpark of 450 cfm. The beauty of the 4 bbl. is that it only gives you full cfm when your foot is in it. Others, you are only running on the primaries.

The 390 has worked well for me and only required a bit of tuning for the car.

Get the tune -up kit for it, well worth it. Makes it easier to tune. The carb comes with the #5 tune setup which is very rich. Richard progressively worked his way up to #11with his engine snd it works great. I drove it????
