Re: '37 steering column and box
I think the hole for the column drop and the hole in the steering shaft is in a different place. Vince Faulter has dimensions chart on his website. Rod

Re: '37 steering column and box
A different lock assy is used for 1/2 ton I think it was the 35 part # (48 prefix) same goes for the steering column tube the 1935.Steering gear on pickup is different ratio than passenger car but I think the housing was the same for cars and trucks.

Flatford, you are good to go with your plan, but you may have to alter the location of the column drop and the locking sleeve on the shaft. |

Re: '37 steering column and box
All my information I posted was from my 1937 Ford passenger cars and trucks Chassis parts list dated December 1936. It shows parts numbers for passenger cars prefixed #78 and parts for pickups are prefixed with the 1935 # 48. Also shows the different gear ratio. The column support/lock is definitely made just for the pickup dash bottom compared to the 1937 passenger car dash contour. The only item besides bearings that are the same is the housing itself as far as Ford part numbers.

Re: '37 steering column and box
Commercials usually have higher mounting angles & may have longer steeering shafts/columns. Bigger trucks are definitely longer.
