Default 1949 F1 fan shroud?

Hey Guys! A friend is putting a 1949 F1 back together for a customer, that was taken apart by the previous owner, who is now deceased. The fan shroud (that was laying in the bed) looks just like the one on my 1952 F1. Problem is the fan is not halfway into it like mine. It is not in it at all. The radiator is in the stock position, like mine. The engine is in the stock position, like mine. Were all the shrouds the same from '49-'52, or was the '49-'50 different than the 51- 52?
This one has us stumped!! - F F

It would be interesting to actually measure the shrouds to see if there is are differences.
Look here:

Maybe the shroud is for a commercial truck or a 6 cylinder engine. It may look the same but, be different.
You may be able to modify it to fit.

There are two 'stock' positions for the radiator core support. The I6 position is closer to the bumper than the V8 position. Sound like you may be mis-placed.

Also, the shrouds are specific to the engine.

Is the fan mounted to the crank pulley?
There are different lengths for different applications.

Put on a fan spacer as required.

The fan is not mounted on the crank pully on these trucks.
The shroud is 3.5" thick. My '52 shroud is the same.
Thanks for the replies so far, guys!

Every 48 to 52 V8 commercial and truck (F1 to F6) fan shroud I've ever fooled with has been the same.

As posted above for the V8 the radiator support goes in the REAR most holes in the inner fender and upper fender inside lip.

Ok- thats something to check out. I don't believe he had the radiator support off, but I will take a look at where it is mounted on this truck.
Perhaps then this truck was a 6 cyl. origanally. Thanks! - F F
