Exclamation 38 1.5ton Ford 4-speed V8 Transmission

Hello,

Was driving my truck around the other day I believe I over heated the transmission. Reverse was not longer engaging and I was leaking transmission fluid... a first for me. Any guidance on how to refill the fluid and what I need to think about for restoring the seals? I have an event this weekend and I am hoping to show it off.

There are two pipe plugs lower is drain, upper is fill. Pump in 140 gl4 or below until it seeps out upper hole. I believe they on on right side, behind pto port. Seal is behind rear bearing retainer.
Do keep in mind, the shift rails have no cap in front and an open hole in rail tunnel for a vent. I stole an idea from a Studebaker owner who made a cap for the front rail tunnels. I plugged the factory vent, and drilled /tapped tower for a brass elbow for new vent with a copper pipe plug to keep out dirt. Rear of tunnels have flat plugs that are countersink into ends.

When oil is warm, there is leakage from these rail tunnels.

Very welcome. The cap idea I borrowed was quite clever. Piece of 1/4" flat stock wide enough to cover tunnels, or bores, if you will. This was bored to provide relief for shaft ends. I filed small groves in bottom of bores, followed by 1/8" drain holes at end of shaft bores. This allows oil to drain back so it doesnt hydrolock shafts. Drill and counter sink cap, and drill /tap the area between shaft bores. Goop it up and run some flat head screws in. You have to chamfer bottom of cap so it doesn't interfere with hogshead. I peckered up the cap with needlescaler to make it look cast. Though no one would see it.
