1932 standard
Do standard cars have dash light switches? I remember on some I have taken apart throughout the years having a metal plug in the hole. If no switch, do they have light inter grated in steering switch? Also I noticed that the choke and throttle knobs are black as per standard as as I have been told. Thanks Joe

All V8-powered '32s had separate dash light switches, standard or deluxe. Early and mid-year four-cylinder-powered '32s had no separate switch and the hole for the switch was filled with an engine-turned steel plug button to match the engine turned finish on the rest of the instrument panel. If the panel was black (early Bs, commercial vehicles, and big trucks), the plug button was painted black. Those vehicles without a separate switch had the dash lights connected the head lamp wiring directly and came on when the head lamps were turned on. Late in the '32 model year, the starter motor was revised and the same starter switch used on V8s was added to the fours. Both the main and lamp wiring harnesses were revised at the same time and the dash light switch was added to the instrument panel. |
