So is the gas tank different on the 1929 fordor and cabriolet? If so I'm in need of one!

The gas tank on a 1929 fordor and cabriolet are the same.

They are standard gas tanks under the cover. So any 28-29 gas tank can replace the fordor and cabriolet tanks. After removing the filler panel on the firewall and removing the clips along the side the tank should come out leaving the cover in place.
