Question Wiring

I need to do a temp (couple of months) wiring of my headlights to a switch I will mount on the dash. the headlights are on a 1928 single bulb what will I need I have no wiring at all at present. Do I need to ground them? Any ideas or thoughts would be a great help!

yes they will most likely need a ground for reliability. Run two wires, one ground and one hot

Here is a quick diagram that should work out. It will take the power right off the battery.
