Default Anyone using an air/fuel meter?

There are two air/fuel meters that I know of that can be bought from about $80 to $160 on Amazon. The meters will give you a reading of whether your car is running rich or lean or just right while you are driving. Some welding is required. These gauges will tell you if your GAV is set right or if there is a clogged jet in the carburetor.

Is anyone running one?

I might get one for my Turbo Eclipse when I turn the boost up to 16 psi and need to make sure it's not running too lean, but for the Model A? Don't think so.

Been using tail pipe probes in diagnostic machines [ Sun] for 6 decades. They work well. But, I'm not going into stuff like this very far anymore.

I used an Innovate unit to set up my weber carb. After a couple of months my sensor would crap out. In the mean time it worked great.

I have thought about putting a bung in wen I put in new exhaust. In the past i ran the car on the loaded emission test NJ used to have to figure best gav adjustments (the A could pass as a 2005)
I suspect that many of the cars would run rich enough that the sensor would get contanimated quickly from being too rich

IThe last time I stuck a probe in the A tailpipe was in the OBD1 days and it would pass. So that was what 1996 I think.

I use an exhaust temp ga. in my Bonneville engine, it and plug readings tell me what I need to know.

Had a smog test jsut for fun. The probe measured an air fuel mixture to 22/1. The guy told me I had to richen the mixture. I told him the gauge was wrong, the car would even not run with 22/1. Kinda funny

Malak, nice.

PC/SR, There must have been some oxygen getting into the exhaust somehow.

I would love to put one in my 30 CCPU if I could find a way to get it to work on a 6V positive ground system.

Al, Google 6 volt to 12 volt converter.

Power the meter with a small nicad or lithium battery pack mounted up under the dash. Charge the pack once a year.
