Default Lighting Harnes

With out thinking, installing my new wiring/lighting system, I followed a work sheet published by Barton’s saying the new two pice lighting containers and plastic conductor holding / switching disk are maybe foreign made and to grind them down to the printed designated thousands of an inch. I forgot what dealer I bought the wiring set from. So, not trying to install them I proceeded to file and grind them down. I have been working on the switch and the canister ( on / off) for around three or four days. I get the 4 lighting and off sequence on the steering wheel - then I lose the parking lights and at times the ahooga horn blows. I have tried and tried, I can’t keep the sequence in order, at times the ahooga blows without touching the horn button. My main question is, once the round plastic unit (with all the wires hooked on) is set in the canister housing with the notch and indent are set , WHAT HOLDS THE PLASTIC SWITCH UNIT IN TO STAY so the turn switch can rotates to complete the proper procedure. The only thing holding the round plastic wire holder in place, is or wold be the group wiring harness. Not very logical. Does anyone have a solution?

The notch in the contact plate fits into the detent in the switch body.
