Default Throttle Position

This is just out of curiosity, but in 3rd at 45 mph on the level with a Tilly, it seems like I have about 75% of the throttle travel left. Is there any easy was to see what the butterfly position really is?

Have you tried setting the hand lever to match the foot position, then look at the throttle shaft position ?

Push the clutch in, turn off the key, and coast to a stop. Then get out and look.

It does not surprise me. At 45 MPH you are not pushing the cars abilities. Not only that it's a fairly light car.

Oh, you said "easy". But since you're curious I'll leave this here. As can be seen, by the graphs, RPM (speed) vs TPS is highly dependent on driving conditions. I will say that based on what I've observed 75% at 45 mph seems about right.

OK, I'll stick my neck out and ask - what in the world possessed you to put a throttle position sensor on a Zenith carb? Was there something specific or just a cool thing to do? That is indeed a most elegant installation!

I meant it seems like the throttle is only 25% open, is that what you mean? As a former instrumentation engineer, I salute you on adding the TPS! When I click on the graphs, they are too small to read, can you post the URLs of the images?

Because you're just loafing along on level ground not much throttle opening is required. It doesn't take much horse power for that.

I think my coupe's non-aerodynamics chews up a good bit of the power when going 45mph on level ground.
