TCI chassis/ clutch
Have aTCI chassis under a 32 5 window coupe. Getting rid or the 350 Chevy and turbo trans to go flathead 3 speed. Anyone found a way to work around the booster and other obstructions? Is hydraulic my best bet? Using 39 style tranny. Help, doing mock up soon.

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
What year range of engine are you using? Do you a clutch/brake pedal setup are you considering? Mounted under the floor or firewall mounted?

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
Guess it depends on the configuration of the X member in your TCI frame. If it is a tubular "open" type; my first thought would be to remove the existing pedal set-up, mount a set of '39 pedals, fab a clutch pull rod, and adapt the booster to the '39 pedals with something similar to CE's AS-21.

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
When I do my reproduction chassis for a FH/T5 I use a dual pedal assembly from P&J. It allows for the brake and clutch MC's to be mounted on the side of the frame. I used to make a hydraulic slave assembly that mounted on the left side of the early Ford trans. It's not that tough for you to fab a bracket that uses the top bolts on the trans and a Chevy truck slave. My set up used a push rod/clevis coming out of the slave that attached to a 35/36 clutch arm. TCI also makes a dual pedal assembly that uses a brake booster and a clutch MC. Things start to get tight with a booster.

Here's the P&J assembly. Looks pretty simple.

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
Thanks, very helpful. TCI says you can’t fit booster under floor of a 32. Seems like a hydraulic clutch would take minimal space.

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
I have always provided my customers with an external slave setup. My theory has been that if the slave leaks it's easy to get to and repair whereas if the hydraulic throw out brg leaks you have to at the least remove the trans and worst case pull the engine.

Re: TCI chassis/ clutch
Thanks. Most likely use hydraulic slave mounted off side or transmission.
