Default gas cap gasket

Hi

Looking to secure the gasket on my 29 gas cap. What can be used that will hold the gasket in place?

Thanks
Al

It just floats free. The gasket outer diameter should be large enough so it doesn't fall out.

Thanks, just looking for a sealant or glue that I could use to secure it to the cap also.

It needs to float as not to tear turning it on and off.

If your gasket is old, shrunk up etc, maybe time to get a new one.

Make a gasket from the flat side of an oil container. Oil containers are impervious to modern gasoline. Make the outside diameter of the gasket a snug fit into the cap.

Make sure not to seal off the vent holes. I made that mistake once.
