Default 1941 Lincoln backing plates-1938 5 wide drums

I would like to know if 1941 Lincoln backing plates will work with 1938 Ford 5 wide drums. Thanks for your time.

Should work if you have actual '41 plates. Later rears work too if you get rid of the e-brake cable hole.

As rich b said above, '41-only FRONT Lincoln backing plates have the correct offset to work with Ford drums. Other year FRONT Lincoln plates have a different offset as seen in the large photo. The '41 Lincoln plate is in the center. It's offset matches Ford. Using the other years would place the brake shoes outside the Ford drum to some extent. As rich said, you can also use any year Lincoln REAR plate (up to '48) on the fronts by merely unbolting the tiny parking brake cable guide, leaving only an inconspicuous hole in the plate. You can compare the similar (same) offsets between the Ford and Lincoln REARS in the small pics. Sorry about the gi-hugic picture! DD

Yes, I used a pair of 41 Lincoln front backing plates, along with 37-39 front drums.

That tin dust ring is relatively easy to remove if is it rusted or banged up; only thing I have found troublesome is that the spot welds are kinda random.
