Default My 39 won't start

Hello friends,

My 39' with a 59A is now equipped with a nice crab from Bubba, (Thank you Bubba for the high speed service), Moroso wires and recommended coil Pertronix 40511 3.0 ohm. It cranks well but just won't "catch" runs for about 3 seconds and quits. I noticed that the coil gets a bit warm while cranking.
The motor ran well before with a helmet type and MSD electronic ignition and a mallory coil but the wiring was a nightmare so the change to a crab seemed like the way to go. I have fuel and spark and a fresh Bubba Crab so where do I go from here? Is it normal for the coil to heat up while cranking? It's a 12 volt system.

Phil

Problem solved.....positive and negative wires to the coil were switched.
Thanks Bob Brust for the help! What a wonderful friend he is!

Just a info note on this :

if a coil has ran in a specific polarity for any length of time the coil residual magnetism
is set permentantly in the coil....
If ran the other way it will fire but looses approx 85% of the output....

Interesting bit of info, Jim.....I did crank it a number of times and run time was maybe 2-3 seconds. Should I be looking for another coil? How does one check coil output to determine condition?
